Infinity 639I 225W 6-1/2 x 6-3/4 -Inch Three-Way Speakers (Pair) Review
installed in front door of 2005 chevy silverado. head unit Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794. powered w/ Alpine MRP-F300 4 chan. amp w/ 50watt RMS per chan.packaged well, good protection in box. also includes 2 adapter rings and a grill. i didn't need those since the holes in the speaker lined up w/ OEM holes in door. the tweeter portion does not rotate/move, but it's angled slightly.
Install: you have to determine which angle points at you best and mount it in that position. the dongle that the speaker wire plugs into hangs down inside the door. plenty of room in my truck and it doesn't rattle around at all. you put bare portion of speaker wire into positive and neg. portion of dongle then screw them down snug. didn't know how well this would work w/ what must be either 20 or 22 awg wire. the holes big, would probably hold 12 awg wire. it wasn't an issue at all though cause i tightened it down and the speaker wire held well and touches enough metal to provide a solid connection.
Sound quality: i give this a 9/10 overall. i was looking for slightly more highs. very minor gripe considering how many details i hear now that i didn't hear before w/ Alpine speakers. i had some Kappa's about 12 years ago and wanted some more. i am still very happy w/ their quality. button on tweeter decreases the dB by 3 if you depress it. i plan on leaving mine not depressed to get more highs. i have digital crossover set at 80Hz but the speakers still have good low end down to 80Hz. they pair very well w/ my 10" kicker sub. powered w/ 120watts RMS. overall, i am very happy w/ these. i haven't listened to everything out there, but i think this is the best for the price.
